Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Sync (“Sync”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and discloses information when you use the Sync mobile application (the “Service”). By using Sync, you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
Sync is a mobile application that helps you view and organize communications such as Gmail messages in a unified inbox, with optional AI-assisted summaries and drafts. Contact: eneabubakar9@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you connect through Google
When you choose to sign in with Google and grant access, we may receive:
- Email address and basic Google account identifiers needed to sign you in
- Gmail message data (read-only), including sender, subject, timestamps, snippets, and message body content, solely to display your inbox in Sync and to power optional AI features you trigger
- OAuth tokens that allow Sync to call Google APIs on your behalf until you disconnect or revoke access
We request the Gmail scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly (read-only).
Sync does not send email on your behalf through Gmail as part of the core read experience.
2.2 Optional integrations
If you connect Slack or provide webhook/API credentials, we process the messages or events you authorize so they can appear in your unified feed. You control which integrations you enable.
2.3 Device and usage data
Like most mobile apps, the Service may process technical information such as device type, OS version, app version, and diagnostic logs necessary to run and improve the app on your device.
3. How we use information
- To provide and maintain the Service (sign-in, sync, display messages, triage tools)
- To generate optional AI summaries, classifications, briefings, or draft replies when you use those features
- To secure the app, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot errors
- To respond to support requests you send us
4. AI processing (Google Gemini)
When you use AI features (for example message summary, executive briefing, or draft reply), relevant message text may be sent to Google’s Generative Language / Gemini API to produce the result. Those requests are processed under Google’s terms and policies for that API. We use AI output to show results inside Sync; we do not sell your message content.
5. Where data is stored
Account connection details (including OAuth access tokens) and synced messages are stored primarily on your device in the app’s local database. Protect your device with a screen lock. If you use optional cloud functions (for example token exchange for Slack or news fetch), only the data required for that function is transmitted to those services.
6. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only as follows:
- Google — authentication, Gmail API, and Gemini API as described above
- Service providers that host infrastructure you choose to enable (for example backend functions), under contractual or platform terms
- Legal requirements if we are required to disclose information by law
- With your consent for any other purpose
7. Retention
Data on your device remains until you delete it in-app, disconnect an account, clear app storage, or uninstall Sync. You can revoke Google access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. After revocation, Sync can no longer call Gmail on your behalf.
8. Your choices and rights
- Disconnect Gmail or other accounts inside Sync
- Revoke OAuth access in your Google Account settings
- Delete local data by clearing app storage or uninstalling
- Contact us to request assistance with access or deletion questions
9. Children’s privacy
Sync is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. International users
Information may be processed in countries where you, Google, or our infrastructure providers operate. Those locations may have different data-protection laws than your home country.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Sync after an update means you accept the revised policy.
